Canovas

The neighbourhood Canovas is known for its luxurious shops and boutiques filled with beautiful clothes and Spanish delicates. Situated just south of the old city centre, you can enjoy a lot of nice restaurants and bars here. A neighbourhood full of energy where you can enjoy a good cocktail on one of the many terraces on a warm summer evening!

Because of its location you can easily reach the Turia park from Canovas and also one of the main roads: Gran Via Marqués del Túria. The neighbourhood is part of the city district L’Eixample and it’s about 15 minutes walking from the old town. Mercado de Colon, one of the markets of Valencia, it’s known for the small cafes where you can enjoy coffee, tea, horchata and fartons; the typical bread from Valencia that you dip into the horchata drink. It is not a traditional food market like the Mercado Central and Mercado de Ruzafa. Canovas is popular amongst the working class of Valencia and more and more creative people are opening their shops there too.

Shopping

In Canovas you will not find big stores but small boutiques in many streets. Hop in Place for example; one space where different shops show their collection. Open since 2013 and here you can find vintage clothing, new clothes by hip and new labels, handmade presents, plants and many more things. In EseOese you can find bohemian chic clothes and accessories. This place is very popular with Spanish people! In the mood for something sweet? Cacao Sampaka offers great chocolate and turrón.

Drinks

If you want to grab a cocktail or nice wine after a day of discovering Valencia, Canovas can offer you enough places! Restaurants

In Canovas are many restaurants, where you can enjoy tapas, Asian food, fresh fish or more international dishes. Our favourites:

Casa Roberto

Spain’s most famous rice dish, paella, was found in Valencia. Rice is very popular in this region and around the city you can find beautiful and large rice fields. At Casa Roberto you can enjoy traditional rice dishes like Paella Valenciana, or rice with gambas. Did you know paella is a dish eaten during lunchtime and not for dinner? At this restaurant you can enjoy typical Spanish food for lunch and dinner.
